How VersusFly works

VersusFly is a metasearch engine: we compare trips and send you to a partner site to book. We do not sell tickets or packages and we never take payments.

Where do prices come from?

Flight prices come from the cache of our partner Travelpayouts / Aviasales, built from the recent searches of its users. They are therefore indicative: every price shows when it was seen, and an expired price is never presented as current. The “See the offer” button runs a live search on the partner’s site, where the final price is confirmed.

How are results ranked?

By default, results are sorted by total cost, calculated as:

• flight price × number of travellers (lap infants count for about 10%);
• luggage fees for your choice (small bag, cabin, checked), from an indicative table per airline; an airline missing from the table is shown with no surcharge and the mention “luggage fees not verified”;
• the cost of getting to the airport, if you gave your starting point: fuel (official daily prices in France, EU weekly oil bulletin or reference values elsewhere), estimated tolls, airport parking (when we know the rate), or train;
• the airport-to-city transfer at your destination, when we know it;
• possible extra costs caused by “trap flights” (a taxi after the last bus, a hotel night before a very early flight if you tick that option).

You can also sort by flight price, door-to-door time or “best compromise” (total cost + value of your time × duration). No partner pays to be ranked higher.

“Where to go?”: how are suggestions chosen?

We filter destinations by your budget, your wishes, the average temperature for the month (Open-Meteo climate normals), visa requirements for your passport (open Passport Index dataset – always confirm with the authorities), language and flight time. The match score combines your wishes (35%), the weather (25%), the margin left in your budget (30%) and the flight time (10%).

How does VersusFly earn money?

When you book after clicking “See the offer”, our partner may pay us an affiliate commission, at no extra cost to you. This relationship exists with the Travelpayouts platform and the services it represents. It does not influence the ranking.

Assumptions and limits

• Road distances come from a precomputed table when available, otherwise they are estimated (straight line × the country’s detour factor), as indicated by “road distance estimated”.
• Train estimates are based on distance and type of line.
• Luggage, parking and transfer tables are reviewed every 90 days; the check date is shown when available.
• Flight times are not always known: in that case, no timing alert is invented.

No account, no advertising cookie, no tracker. The address you type is only used for the calculation and is kept only as a hashed cache key, with no link to you. See our privacy policy.
